Our story
Seven decades of Nepali badminton
The Nepal Badminton Association was established in 1952 (बि.सं. २००८), making it one of the oldest sports governing bodies in the country. Registered under the National Sports Council, the association has guided the sport from its earliest club days to today's professional national circuit.
From its headquarters at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu, the association sanctions and organises competition at every level — school and junior championships, provincial leagues, national ranking tournaments and the National Championship.
Since 2016 the association has hosted the Nepal International, a BWF-sanctioned tournament that brings players from across Asia and beyond to Kathmandu each year, giving Nepali players world-ranking opportunities on home soil.
As a member of the Badminton World Federation and Badminton Asia, the association also develops coaches, umpires and technical officials, and runs grassroots programmes in partnership with its seven provincial associations.

The association exists to grow, govern and celebrate badminton in Nepal:
- Provide a clear competitive pathway from school level to the national team
- Develop world-class players, coaches and technical officials
- Stage international-standard events in Nepal, headlined by the Nepal International Series
- Strengthen the seven provincial associations and their district networks
- Make badminton accessible to every community, regardless of geography or background
