1. Event Overview

The 42nd National Badminton Championship 2083 was successfully organized by the Nepal Badminton Association (NBA) from 12 to 16 May 2026. Held at the National Sports Council (NSC) Covered Hall in Tripureshwor, the event promoted badminton development and identified top-tier talent. The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Mr. Ram Charitra Meheta, Member Secretary of the National Sports Council, who served as the chief guest. Mr. Rajiv Shrestha, General Secretary of the Nepal Olympic Committee, also participated as the special guest for the occasion. The event was further distinguished by the presence of representatives from the National Sports Council, various sports associations and federations, alongside esteemed Olympians and former national champions.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha, President of the Nepal Olympic Committee, who attended as the chief guest. The formal proceedings were attended by a notable gathering of representatives from the National Sports Council, various sports associations and federations, as well as Olympians and former national champions, who all convened to mark the conclusion of the event.

2. Participation & Impact

The championship featured 115 elite athletes representing 7 provinces and 3 departmental teams (10 teams total). Each team consisted of 7 male athletes, 5 female athletes, 1 coach, and 1 manager. The event served as a major benefit for over 10,000 people, providing a unique platform for junior players to observe national-level gameplay. Furthermore, the championship fostered active engagement among professional coaches and technical umpires.
